Molybdenum trioxide (MoO3)
MoO3:
MoO3 has an orthorhombic crystal structure (spacegroup: pbnm or pnma) with lattice constants a = 3.96 ang b = 13.85 ang c = 3.69 ang.
Chemicals:
molybdenum, DI water, 30% hydrogen peroxide
Solvothermal Growth Procedure:
In an Erlenmeyer flask, mix together 0.36 g molydbenum powder in 30 mL of DI water. Dropwise, add 2.5 mL of 30% H2O2 while stirring. Stir for 20 minutes.
Place into a teflon lined acid digestion Parr bomb. Heat at 150C for 12 hours.

Water Vapor Transport:
Dry out the nanoparticles made solvothermally using either dry air or just by evaporation for a few days.
In a 1 inch tube in a furnace, place the MoO3 nanoparticles in a half cut quartz piece. Heat to 850C with a ramp up of about 30 mihutes. Leave at that temperature for about an hour to two hours. Cool. Collect the crystals.
